You know marketing online is important.  The world of marketing has changed, and many old methods no longer work.  Yet your job is to know your business, and learning about marketing in an ever changing world is a full time job.

PPC (Pay per Click), SEO (search engine optimization), SoLoMo (social, local, and mobile marketing), FB (Facebook), CMS (content management systems), WP (WordPress), all these initials are enough to make your head spin. Google Search – Your Results May Vary

Looking on the new diet book, herbal blend, or medicine, you will see the line “Your results may vary.”  It is a necessary disclaimer on labels and ads, to explain that each person is unique and their results from said product will be unique to them.  The same disclaimer could easily be added to search engine results.

What makes Search Engine Results vary?

Search engines like Google will not disclose their specific algorithms, but there are a number of theories.  The results of these algorithms however are easy to see.  Call a friend and both of you use the same search term, then compare results.  Sometimes you can even see it on different computers in the same place.  There are cases where even browsers on the same computer can have different results.

The reasons are multiple. Like Hansel and Gretel leaving a trial of crumbs to find their way, so do websites with their cookies. These cookies attach to the browser and guide the search engines to give you the results that you probably want.  If you’ve heard about search engines learning from you, this is how they do it. When you clear the browser, your results will change. continue reading »

Love Letters From Google

When you get a letter from the IRS, you know it’s about your taxes and chances are the letter doesn’t contain good news.  As a business owner, getting a letter from Google can be the same way.

One day you can be riding high in the search engine results and the next day you are left shaking your head wondering what happened.  You could be reading the dreaded letter and hoping Google doesn’t ban you as the letter says.   Alternatively you could be wondering how your website went from the top all the way to page 4.

Don’t Annoy the Search Engine

Peace of Mind for Your Business

We Value Our Client’s Security and Privacy.  Our clients have many reasons they want privacy and our job is to keep their information and business secure.  They trust us to keep them safe and we hold that trust in high regard.

Since our agency deals in Social, Local and Mobile Marketing and SEO our clients trust us to not hire competitors.  Local marketing depends on our not working with a business in the same niche in the same geographic area.

For example if your company is pet store in Chicago, then we will not work with another pet store in Chicago.  This is part of our contract with you, the client.   This location based exclusivity makes your business a priority and works for your benefit because we work to get only your business to the top of the local listings.

Your future is important to us

This exclusivity is also part of why our clients are kept private.  Another part of the privacy is that we work closely with our clients.  As part of our contract, both you as the client and we as your marketing providers sign Non-Disclosure / Confidential agreements that protect both companies, now and in the future.

That future is part of why our business is appreciated.  Your business is not a temporary situation, you have a future planned and our job is to help you meet that future with your best foot forward.  Thus when we plan your marketing we don’t plan just what needs to be done now, we also plan for your future.

As such, during our time with our clients, they disclose confidential information about inventions, discoveries, and ideas and possible future growth.  We use this information to plan our marketing months in the future, which helps us move fluidly with your business and making the process appear seamless.  The seamlessness is another reason our clients value the privacy policy.

Many SEO companies work outside the client.  The process is seen for being an outside company working for the client.  Our clients prefer our work as we work as an extension of their own company.  They feel like they have their own team of SEO, Social, Local and Mobile Marketing experts without the cost of having a full time team.

We are part of your team

In order to do our job, knowing about your business, your products and services, your needs and future is important.  We cannot plan your search engine optimization without knowledge of your company and what it offers.  We cannot decide how to combine and implement a strategy for growth with Social, Local, and Mobile marketing without researching your company and your ideal clients.

While some companies “guarantee” immediate results, we don’t.  Immediate growth is not what is best for your company as it is a temporary and sometimes damaging jump. We accept our role as part of your company and we work for your growth over the long haul.

Peace of Mind

Security and Privacy gives your business Peace of Mind.  The non-disclosure parts of the agreement protect your company and ours.  Being able to share your future plans helps our company work to better serve you.  We hope that you recommend our company to your friends and other businesses.  This helps our company.  Yet because of our privacy policies and location exclusivity you can do so without having to worry about competitors snapping us up and working against your company.

This has been designed as protection and peace of mind for your business, so you can worry about your products and business and leave the marketing angle to us.  Your success is our success.

Quality or Quantity for SEO and Website Success?

We’ve had many clients seek our help after the reputation of their site has been ruined by using other SEO Services who have lower quality standards than we have.  Some SEO services use techniques that seem great at first, but sadly ruin the reputation and long term rankings of the website.  Some SEO Services use techniques that are dated, sadly costing the site time and reputation.

Fortunately you may be able to spot techniques that are not legitimate and create that rapid boost only to quickly evaporate leaving your business and website parched and deserted as Search Engines leave.   Other techniques however sound great and these are the ones that can get your business in trouble.

Years ago some SEO firms suggested hiding keyword in background colors.  Like those keywords, this form of “help” has fortunately faded into the background.  Excessive use of keywords is still sometimes recommended.  But keywords are far from the only thing that is used excessively.

Quantity SEO Fails

You may have heard about the Panda Update.  It shut down a great number of content farms and started putting limits on additional sites that are known for the amount of content they have.  continue reading »
